AURORA – Waubonsie Valley cross country programs were busy this weekend, once again hosting a DuPage Valley Conference triangular meet against DeKalb and Naperville Central. The boys team competed on Friday afternoon, and the girls team competed on Saturday morning.
For the boys, senior Zach Benziger finished second in 16:05.50. Five straight Warriors followed him. Junior Ethan Marshall (16:13.10), junior Angel Solis (16:13.70), junior Andres Perez (16:15.30), junior Jacob Tukker (16:26.10) and senior Joey Sweeney (16:48.10) finished third through seventh, respectively. Senior Dan Sprout finished 14th (17:17.50), and senior Josh Bormann finished 15th (17:19.10).
For the girls, sophomore Anna Riggs paced the team with a fifth-place finish in 20:30.20. Senior Alex Vulich placed seventh in 20:48.50. Sophomore Carmen Solis (21:36.80) and freshman Lindsey Mathews (22:34.00) placed in the top 20.
Both teams will travel to Neuqua Valley next weekend for a DuPage Valley Conference triangular with the Wildcats and Metea Valley.
