Warriors Return to DVC Action Against Metea

Waubonsie Valley boys basketball was busy over the holiday break, participating in two tournaments at Jacobs High School and Moline High School. However, the Warriors return to conference play Friday night when they travel to Metea Valley for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the Mustangs.

Waubonsie comes into the contest with a 13-2 record, having won eight of their last nine games. The team has already equaled their win total from a year ago. The Warriors are coming off of a 51-49 win over Rock Island back on January 5.

The Mustangs are led by senior Ethan Helwig, who became the first Metea Valley player to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. He scored 35 points in the Mustangs’ 82-73 loss at Oswego East on Tuesday night.
