Skeete Beats the Buzzer for Second Straight Game

AURORA – The Warriors had been burnt by the buzzer beater once this year, but senior Marcus Skeete has made it his personal endeavor to beat the buzzer this week. First, Skeete hit the game-winner to beat Oswego East on Tuesday night, and Friday night, Skeete banked a three in time to beat Naperville Central, 35-32, in a DuPage Valley Conference battle.

The Warriors looked sluggish opening the game, down eight after the first quarter, and Carter Langendorf in foul trouble, but Waubonsie came back to edge Central at the half, 19-17.

Waubonsie held the two-point edge at the end of three quarters. In the fourth, Adri Malushi delivered a beautiful bounce pass to Tyler Helbing for a layup. After the Redhawks tied it at 32, the Warriors held the ball for the final minute. Double-teamed, Skeete dribbled to his right, stepped back behind the three-point line and banked a 20-footer at the horn for the win.

The Warriors improved to 26-4 on the year, which is the third highest season win total in school history. They travel to Metea Valley on Wednesday night to close out the regular season, before traveling to West Aurora to open the IHSA Tournament on March 3.
