AURORA – At the beginning of the night, the headline was the Warriors having to play without junior Ben Schwieger due to injury. By the end of the night, the headline was senior Marcus Skeete and the Warriors overcoming that to beat DeKalb 61-44 on Friday night at Waubonsie Valley High School.
It didn’t look promising in the first quarter, as the Warriors almost went the entire period without scoring, but despite that, DeKalb lead by only four, 10-6.
The Barbs still lead by four at the half, 24-20, before Waubonsie took control, outscoring DeKalb 41-20 in the second half. Marcus Skeete finished with 22 points and was named Comcast Network 100’s Player of the Game.
It was the first DuPage Valley Conference loss for DeKalb, but the Barbs are still in the driver’s seat to win the conference title outright if they win one of their final two games.
The Warriors improved to 23-4 and travel to Oswego East on Tuesday night to face the Wolves for a 6:30 p.m. start.
