DECATUR – For Singh, a trip to IHSA State was commonplace, but finishing near the top was something she hadn’t accomplished in her three straight trips. Singh made her fourth and final trip a memorable one, finishing tied for fifth at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur.

In the first round, Singh finished tied for 14th. The course proved challenging for Singh, having bogeyed three holes in the back nine and two in the front nine. Singh birdied number four and number 15 to end the day at 3-over-75.

In the second round, Singh bogeyed twice on the back nine, but tore up the front nine with three birdies. She finished the tournament 3-over-147, just three shots behind eventual champion Penelope Tir.

It was Singh’s highest finish at IHSA State, having placed 53rd in 2014, 22nd in 2015, and 30th in 2016. She is also only the second female golfer to reach IHSA State all four years of her career (the other being Bing Singhsumalee in 2011-2014).
