AURORA – Waubonsie Valley went dark for a short period of time on Thursday afternoon. A car accident on nearby Ogden Avenue caused an area-wide outage that included the high school. The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m.
Backup generators kicked in and emergency power was restored to some overhead lights in the building. Power was fully restored after about 20 minutes.
“Waubonsie experienced a power outage for ~ 20 minutes due to an accident on Odgen Avenue,” said a message from Waubonsie Valley administration around 1:20 p.m. today in both an e-mail to the community and on Twitter. “During the outage, emergency lighting was activated as well as necessary power for most of the building. The power has been restored and we are back on schedule!”
