PTA Awards Over $5,000 in Classroom Grants

AURORA – Waubonsie Valley’s Parent Teacher Association released its grant recipients for 2024.

Teachers can submit applications, which are then reviewed and voted on by the PTA committee. This year, eight teachers and a guidance counselor received grants totaling over $5,000.

Science teacher Becky Goff received a grant for a lung demonstration kit. Math teacher Sandy Goff received a grant for a subscription to an assessment platform for her precalculus classes. World languages teacher Brooke Marquette received a grant for 30 tripods for her American Sign Language courses. Science teacher Stephanie Rybka received a grant for a Sphero programmable robot for STEAM projects. Guidance Counselor Matt Walker received a grant for an iPad Air and tripod for his after school weight room program. Science teacher Pam Westfall received a grant for new pipettes and four miniPCR crime lab kits. Media teacher Brian Wiencek received a grant for a subscription to Adobe Stock graphics and backgrounds. Special education teacher Michele Witte received a grant for handheld musical instruments, sheets and recordings for a music enrichment program, and teacher Lacy Woulfe received a grant for three targets and shields for the school’s RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) classes.

The PTA looks to fund projects that benefit a large number of students and that will enhance the welfare of students. They also are looking for projects that offer a unique positive learning opportunities that promote academic or technical achievement.
