AURORA – On Friday, Waubonsie Valley athletics announced Adam Pucylowski as its new head coach for the school’s football program.
Pucylowski said the school’s football history and tradition is what attracted him to the job.
“I went to North Central College and we were fortunate…we had a young man, Dylan Warden, come through,” said Pucylowski. “Dylan was so great for so many years for us. You know, the teams and the players that Waubonsie Valley put on the field, I just saw it as an opportunity.”
“I saw a strong tradition,” said Pucylowski. “A good friend of mine had high, high recommendations for the school. I asked him, ‘what do you think about the school?’ He goes, ‘Outstanding. We have been super happy with our education, super happy with our experience.'”
“So being able to come to a great place, that’s important,” said Pucylowski, “and a place where you feel like you fit. The initial attraction absolutely was the opportunity to build a program I thought we could win, and I think we can win.”
“Pucylowski was nervous and excited to meet with Waubonsie’s student athletes at the press conference where he was introduced. “It’s hard to really put in words. I was super excited. The hair on my head was standing up. You get a little goosebumps. It’s like running out on a Friday night. It was great to see the kids and just get to talk. I’m really excited to build our program together. It’s a collaborative experience.”
Pucylowski becomes the 5th head coach in the program’s history. The New Berlin, Wisconsin native was the punter/placekicker at North Central College from 2005-2008.
The Warriors open their 2024 football season on Friday, August 30, at Oswego East High School.
