Boys Swim and Dive Repeats as IHSA Sectional Champions

AURORA – Waubonsie Valley boys swimming and diving won the IHSA sectional championship for the second straight season, finishing first in a 13-team field at Metea Valley High School on Saturday.

The Warriors won the 50-yard freestyle (senior Alex Schwartz) and the 100-yard breaststroke (senior Keian Lam).

Junior Tyler Bardak placed second in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.

In relay competition, the Warriors finished 3rd in the 200-yard medley (Bardak, senior Nathan Huynh, Lam and senior Alex Schwartz), 200-yard freestyle (Schwartz, senior Shaun Bahl, Lam and senior Sam Lohman), and 400-yard freestyle (Bardak, senior Luke Martens, Bahl and Lohman).

The Warriors also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley (Lam), 100-yard freestyle (Lohman), 100-yard backstroke (Bahl), 100-yard breaststroke (Huynh) and diving (senior Aidan DiLallo).

Sophomore Cooper Fleming won three events for athletes with disabilities, the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke.
