BENSENVILLE – Warrior Hockey is making waves in the AHAI Blackhawk Cup after its 4-3 win over Libertyville on Sunday. Zach Lyons’ goal completed the comeback to help the Warriors get into the quarterfinals.
The day did not start out well for the Waubonsie. Libertyville scored twice in the first period, and took a 3-1 lead into the locker room after an Alberts goal for the Warriors.
To start the third period, the Warriors took advantage of the power play, as Alberts scored to make it 3-2. Jack Flood followed that up with a goal to tie it up on a pass from Lyons at the 7:43 mark. Over a minute later, Lyons capped off the comeback and the win.
The Warriors will face AWP Renegades on Friday night, March 10 for an 8:25 puck drop at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville. The Renegades are a combined team consisting of teams from Addison Trail, Fenton, Montini and Willowbrook High Schools.
