BARTLETT, IL – Waubonsie Valley Boys Golf continued its successful 2018 campaign on Monday, finishing 3rd at the IHSA Sectionals at Bartlett Hills Golf Club.

The Warriors shot 314, just four shots back of second-place Geneva, and 24 shots back of first-place Hinsdale Central.

Junior Will Troy once again led the way, carding a 71, which was good enough for a tie for second-place. Junior Jacob Fritz followed with a 78, tied for 21st. Senior Elliot Villeneuve shot an 82, freshman Kenton Esch had an 83, senior Kenny Knicker shot an 84, and senior Carter Wright finished with a 91.

It is the fourth time in the program’s history that they are headed to IHSA State as a team. They advanced in 1995, 2003, and 2009, behind state champion and newly-inducted Waubonsie Valley Athletics Hall of Famer Thomas O’Bryan.

The IHSA Finals take place on Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13 at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington, Illinois.
