AURORA – Sophomore Revanth Kothapalli won the singles tournament in the IHSA Sectional at Waubonsie Valley High School on Friday and Saturday. The Warriors finished second as a team.
Kothapalli defeated East Aurora’s Raul Garcia in the second round, Yorkville’s Grady Phillips in the quarterfinals, and Oswego East’s Pranav Kannan in the semifinals. Kothapalli swept Neuqua Valley’s Andy Yu, 6-3, 6-4, in the championship.
In the doubles tournament, freshman Ishaan Suresh Kumar and junior Sahan Tirukovalluru finished second. The two won three straight matches before falling to Neuqua Valley’s Johnny Mou and Ricky Kim in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5.
