Students Can Register for Free Heart Screenings at Waubonsie

AURORA – Waubonsie Valley High School is hosting its 6th Young Hearts for Life ECG screening on Tuesday, April 25.

The free, painless and non-invasive ECG screening is available to all current Waubonsie Valley students. There are no fees and proof of insurance is not needed.

Parents or guardians will need to register their students at screenings.yh4l.org.

Young Hearts for Life has screened over 285,000 students in the Chicagoland area since 2006 and has identified more than 3,100 students with previously undiagnosed cardiac conditions that may cause Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD).

A standard sports/pre-participation physical will detect 4% of conditions that can cause SCD. An ECG screening can detect 70% of these conditions.

In addition, Young Hearts for Life are in need of more than 100 parent and community volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can sign up at signup.com.
