WVTV Earns Film Festival Honors

Naperville, IL – Waubonsie Valley’s media production program participated in an independent area film festival on April 29 and was honored with three Top 2 finishes.

The Midwest Media Educators Association Film Festival judged entries from 39 area high schools in categories ranging from animation to cinematography.

WVTV won first-place in the Comedic Narrative category with “The Body.” Produced by junior Vicram Chatterjee, and starring juniors Matt Hix, Colin Rhoades and Austin Rader, the short film is about two guys trying to dispose of a dead body.

Chatterjee placed again, this time in second, in the Music Video category for “Youth,” a short story about the perils of drinking and recovery. Produced by Chatterjee, and starring Hix and juniors Meyani Montano, “Youth” won first-place at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival in February.

“It was a great learning experience for us,” said Chatterjee. “We were able to watch videos from other high schools with similar interests to see what everyone else is producing. We take the time at the end of the year to appreciate everyone’s hard work.”

Junior Mishael Jacob won second-place in the Dramatic Narrative category for “Prodigal,” a short film about a child who left home and his journey back home later in life.
