EVANSTON, IL – Waubonsie Valley boys swimming was busy on Saturday, having qualified for four different consolation and finals races. They made the most of that opportunity, as the Warriors finished 13th as a team in the IHSA State Finals in Evanston this weekend.
‘Team’ was the continuing theme for the Warriors as three of their relays teams finished in the Top 12. In the 200 medley relay, Jared Simpson, Bryan Ellig, Michael Schwers and Eric Weng raced to a 1:34.99, which was good enough for 7th place.
In the 200 free relays, Tag Lohman, Ethan Morse teamed up with Schwers and Weng to finish 10th in 1:26.49.
The final relay race saw Lohman, Jared Simpson, Schwers and Weng race to a 11th place finish in 3:11.08.
Individually, two Warriors competed in the 100 butterfly. Schwers finished 4th in :49.7 and Lohman placed 10th in :50.84.
Waubonsie was one of four DuPage Valley Conference teams to finish in the Top 15, along with Naperville Central (2nd), Neuqua Valley (7th) and Metea Valley (15th).
