Waubonsie Valley’s Physical Education department is seeking students to enroll in its Peer Partners program.

In Peer Partners, students are matched up with students with special needs during their P.E. class. The class counts as credit towards a Physical Education course in their schedule.

Peer Partners assistance ranges from helping during activities in class, in the locker room to helping maneuver the hallways or simply just being there for support.

Peer Partners was established to help create a successful adapted Physical Education class. Partners act as “mini instructors” in class, but are also participating during activities. The program helps involve special needs students both physically and mentally.

Students who are interested, must…

  • Be a junior or a senior for the 2019-2020 school year
  • Be able to swim
  • Submit a one-page summary to Lacy Woulfe in the Women’s Coaches Office. The summary should state why the student wants to be part of the Peer Partners Program. It should be typed and double-spaced.
  • Obtain one P.E. or Health teacher recommendation
  • Download and return the parent signature form

The list of 2019-2020 Peer Partners will be posted outside the women’s coaches office after Friday, February 15.
