Warrior Hockey Heads to United Center for State Championship

BENSENVILLE – The Warriors hockey team will advance to the Blackhawk Cup state championship after a 6-2 win over Naperville in the semifinals at the Edge Ice Arena on Tuesday.

Naperville scored first with a Tommy Fangmann, Jr. goal six minutes into the first period. The Warriors’ senior Evan Ziegler tied it up on an unassisted power play goal with three minutes left. The Warriors scored five straight goals from that point with three goals in the second period (senior Luke Peters, Ziegler and junior Elijah Houlihan) and the third period (sophomore Finn O’Toole). Senior Andrew Fichtel picked up the win in goal. The Warriors outshot Naperville, 26-21.

Earlier in the tournament, the Warriors defeated BGHW in the quarterfinals and D155 in the first round.

The Warrors will take on top-seeded Chicago North for a 5:30 p.m. puck drop at the United Center in Chicago. The game will be livestreamed on the SHL Network.
