Waubonsie Valley is sending six swimmers to the IHSA State Finals after its fourth place finish at sectionals at Neuqua Valley High School on Saturday. The Warriors finished with 143.5 points.
The 200-yard medley relay team of junior Bella Plude, junior Ruby Meier, freshman Abbey Brown and sophomore Anna Honcharuk qualified for state by tying for fourth with a 1:47.53.
In the 400-yard freestyle, sophomore Calin Ball, freshman Malini Madiman, Honcharuk and Meier qualified for state by finishing third in 3:34.43.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Honcharuk, Ball, Madiman and Meier finished 6th in 1:37.33 to qualify for state.
Honcharuk qualified for state in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.19, finishing second.
Plude finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in :57.74 to qualify for state. She then finished 5th in the 100-yard backstroke with a :58.17 to qualify again for state.
The IHSA State Finals will be Friday and Saturday at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont.
