Waubonsie Valley’s dance team is headed to the state finals after finishing second at the IHSA Sectionals in Geneva on Saturday.
The Warriors scored a 93.00, which was .67 behind first-place Naperville North. Andrew, Sandburg, Neuqua Valley and Plainfield North rounded out the Top 6.
It’s the first time the Warriors are returning to IHSA State since the 2016-2017 season.
“They really wanted to prove they deserved a spot at state,” said head coach Megan Dougherty. “This year we have been taking ballet classes more, working on team facials, and preparing with more confidence for each performance. This team is full of joy and perseverance, and we couldn’t be more excited to share that this weekend.”
IHSA State Finals are Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois. Tickets are $10 per session. For more information, visit www.ihsa.org.
