AURORA – Although the individual times and scores are important, the Waubonsie Valley cross country teams pride themselves on their team. That was evident on Saturday, as both the boys and girls cross country teams advanced to the IHSA Sectional next week at Waubonsie Valley High School.

The boys team finished fifth, with Top 20 performances by Cedric McGuire (17th, 15:39) and Wes Beitler (18th, 15:42). Jake Saindon (21st, 15:45), John Caron (27th, 15:56), and Wes York (29th, 15:56) rounded out the Top 30.

The girls team finished sixth, with Ashley Heidenrich led the Warriors with a seventh place finish in 17:59. Sarah Vitro (13th, 18:27.26) and Katelyn Mullinax (14th, 18:27.48) also placed in the Top 15.

The IHSA Sectionals take place on Saturday with the girls set to start at 10:30 a.m. and the boys beginning at 11:30 a.m.
