ORLAND PARK – Waubonsie Valley’s Model United Nations club was named the “Best Small Delegation” at the Carl Sandburg Model UN competition on Saturday.
Sohum Shah was named “Best Delegate.” Jonah Elias, Rishi Mahadevan and Rishi Patel were named “Outstanding Delegate,” and Dishita Mansukhani was named “Honorable Delegate.”
There were over 400 students representing 25 high schools from Illinois and Indiana. Model UN is a simulation that involves students acting as delegates who work with one another to produce mock resolutions on global issues. The students must employ diplomacy, critical thinking and global problem solving to be successful.
