ALGONQUIN – Waubonsie Valley boys basketball continued its torrid early-season run with a 60-37 win over Crystal Lake South on Wednesday night at the Hinkle Holiday Classic at Jacobs High School.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 14-7 first quarter lead and held throughout the game. Senior Eric Cannon scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the first half, including four three-pointers. Senior Nikhil Khanna also had a great first half, scoring all of his 11 points within that time.

In the second half, it was the Marcus Skeete show, as the junior hit two three-pointers, en route to a 15-point game.

Waubonsie Valley improved to 10-1 on the year and have extended their winning streak to five games. The Warriors finish off pool play on Thrusday when they take on Walter Payton Prep for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff in the Hinkle Holiday Classic.
