Nearby Bank Robbery on Monday Puts Waubonsie on ‘Hold in Place’ After School

AURORA – A police incident on Tuesday afternoon caused four Indian Prairie School District 204 schools to secure its buildings for a short amount of time as a precaution.

According to an FBI release, a bank robbery took place around 2:26 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank at 2998 Ogden Avenue in Aurora on Monday afternoon.

A screen shot of an IPSD 204 communication was shared on a local Facebook scanner page that said police asked the district to secure Waubonsie Valley High School, Fischer Middle School, Georgetown Elementary School and McCarty Elementary School.

The screen shot from IPSD 204 also said that “this is a precaution only. Please note that all of our students are safe and secure and there is currently no threat to our schools.”

Officials said that the suspect fled the scene on foot and is still at large. Anyone with information is asked to submit tips anonymously at tips.fbi.gov.
