ROLLING MEADOWS – Junior Markus Palmertz ended a three-overtime marathon with a shot from the blue line for the winning score, as the Warriors Hockey Club defeated Chicago North, 4-3, on Sunday night at West Meadows Ice Rink.
Chicago North tallied two goals to take the lead before Elijah Houlihan scored right before the end of the first period.
In the second period, the Warriors tied it up with a Joe Pijanowski goal, his third of the tournament.
After Chicago North once again took the lead in the third period, Pijanowski struck again with a power play goal to tie it up.
That pushed both teams into three overtimes. Palmertz scored his first goal of the tournament with a slapshot that trickled past the goalie.
Sean DeValk picked up the win at goalie, stopping 43 shots.
The Warriors advanced to the Blackhawk Cup championship on Sunday at the United Center for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop. They’ll face BGHW, who defeated Maine, 4-3 in overtime, in their semifinal.
