TD Trifecta from Threat Leads Football to Season-Opening Win

AURORA – Senior Tyler Threat reached the end zone three times on Friday night to help the Warriors to a 28-7 win over Oswego East on the opening night of the IHSA football season.

The game started out slowly as neither team could put points on the board, ending the first half in a scoreless tie.

Two minutes into the second half, Threat opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run. The Warriors got the ball right back after Oswego East muffed a pooch kick at their own 23-yard line. Four plays later, junior Chrisjan Simmons ran into the end zone from three yards out, giving Waubonsie a 14-0 lead. After an Oswego East touchdown in the fourth quarter, Threat delivered a crushing blow to the Wolves with a 72-yard touchdown run, and the Warriors lead 21-7. Threat added his third touchdown of the night from 25 yards out with six minutes left in the game.

Threat ran for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Senior quarterback Luke Elsea completed 13 passes for 133 yards

The Warriors travel to Plainfield East on Friday to take on the Bengals for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
