Three Warriors Selected to Athletic Hall of Fame

Waubonsie Valley Athletics announced its newest members last week. Discus and shot put thrower Brett Einbecker, distance runner Durrell Williams and wrestler Raphael Wilson.

Einbecker graduated in 2008. He was the IHSA runner-up for discus in 2007 and state champion in 2008. To this day, Einbecker still holds the school record for discus with a throw of 197’6.5″ in 2008. Einbecker is also second in school history for shot put w/ a throw of 59’8″ in 2008.

Einbecker went on to Metea Valley High School where he coached a shot put state champion and a second- and third-place discus thrower in 2013.

Williams graduated in 2005. His 800-meter run of 1:53.09 in 2005 is still the best ever in Waubonsie history. His 1600-meter run of 4:23.8 in 2005 is ranked as fourth best in school history.  Williams won a state title in the 800-meter in 2004 and finished runner-up in 2005. He also qualified for state in cross country in 2004, finishing 11th. Williams went on to run at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Wilson graduated in 1991. His 109 career wins as a Waubonsie wrestler ranks 12th. He was a state qualifier in the 125-pound weight class in 1990 and the state champion in the 135-pound weight class in 1991. Wilson went on to wrestle at Augustana College, where he won three national championships.

The hall of fame ceremony will take place on Friday, October 14, when Warrior football hosts Naperville North at Dick Kerner Stadium.
