The Redhawks were stellar from the three-point line for most of the game, giving them a 31-20 lead at the beginning of the third quarter. Waubonsie incorporated a full-court press for the remainder of the second half to chip away at the lead. With :15 left in regulation Halle Williams nailed the game-tying three-pointer. Waubonsie dominated in overtime outscoring the Redhawks 15-8.

“We knew they would probably cool off, with the defensive pressure that we were adding in the second half.” said Waubonsie head coach Brett Love. “They were pretty hot. They were shooting a lot of shots in our faces, and we just wanted to make sure we got up and pressured them in the second half.”

“We had a talk in the locker room,” said Love. “We talked about our energy. Last time we played Naperville Central, we didn’t have energy. This time, we didn’t have energy in the first half. That was our main focus.”

Williams finished with 6 points and 3 rebounds. Ahniya Melton lead the way with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
