BENSENVILLE – Warriors hockey is headed to the Blackhawk Cup State Championship after a narrow 1-0 win over the Chicago Central Romans on Thursday night.

After two scoreless periods, senior Caden Cast broke the tie with a wrist shot in front of the goal with 8:02 left in regulation. Cast had 12 goals during the regular season. Junior Jack Poidomani held the Romans scoreless from start to finish, adding to his four regular season shutouts.

Warriors will now face Wheaton West in the championship on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville. Wheaton finished the Illinois West Hockey division with an 18-5 record. The Warriors swept Wheaton in both meetings back in October by scores of 3-2 and 4-3.
