Third Period Goals Lead Warriors Past Wildcats

AURORA – In a game that was tightly contested for over two periods, it was three straight Warrior goals that helped them defeat Neuqua Valley, 3-1, on Sunday night at All Seasons Ice Arena.

Both teams went scoreless through the first period and most of the second period before Neuqua Valley scored on a Jonathan Lyskawa goal with 2:31 left.

Ten minutes into the third period is when the Warrior started to heat up. Senior Matthew Shield tied the game with 10:47 left in the game. Two minutes later, sophomore Joshua Pijanowski scored to give the Warriors the lead. With 5:23 left in the game, senior Michael McClain added an insurance goal.

Assists came from senior Evan Ziegler, sophomore Joseph Pijanowksi, freshman Ethan Newburg, Shield and sophomore Jacob Morgan. Sophomore Tyler Bellot stopped 23 shots on goal to get the win.

The Warriors host Glenbard on Monday night for an 8:30 p.m puck drop.
