Boys Track & Field Finishes Second at IHSA Sectionals

ROCK ISLAND – Waubonsie Valley boys track and field finished in second place at the IHSA Sectionals in Rock Island on Thursday. The Warriors finished with 75.5 points in the 13-team field.

Junior Jamir Harris finished second in the 100-meters with an :11.00. He also finished third in the 200-meters with a :22.54.

Seniors Sean Kirkwood (:15.06) and Alex Wiley (:15.13) finished first and second, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles. Kirkwood also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a :40.01.

The 4×100 relay team of Wiley, Harris, Jamon Harris and Charles Hobbs III finished third in :43.33.

The 4×800 team of Zach Benziger, Chris Miserendino, Angel Solis and Aiden Oster finished third in 8:05.20.

In the shot put, junior Joe Barragan finished in third place, throwing 15.08 meters, while junior Sam Mika finished fifth, throwing 14.44 meters.

In the discus, Mika finished second, throwing 48.72 meteres, while junior Jeremiah Hatchett finished fourth, throwing 45.40 meters.

Jamir Harris (100m), Mika (discus), Wiley (110m hurdles) and Kirkwood (110m hurdles) all qualified for IHSA State competition June 19 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
