AURORA – Waubonsie Valley senior Ben Schwieger has decided to play basketball on the north side of Chicago in 2021-2022 at Loyola University. He made his announcement Thursday evening on Twitter.

“I would…like to thank all my coaches, trainers, teammates, teachers and administration at Waubonsie Valley that have pushed me to make me a better player, and more importantly, a better person,” said Schwieger in tweet. “I will be furthering my academic and basketball career at Loyola University Chicago.”

Schwieger received offers from Belmont, Southern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and others, but ultimately decided on the Missouri Valley Conference school.

The Ramblers made news in 2018 when they finished the year with a 32-6 record and ended up in the NCAA’s Final Four. Porter Moser, a Naperville native, has been head coach of Loyola since 2011.
