PLAINFIELD – Owen Roberts made history on Wednesday afternoon, but he was just happy to help the Warriors move on to the sectional championship. Roberts pitched a no-hitter in Waubonsie Valley’s 3-0 win over Plainfield North in the IHSA Sectional Semifinal.

Roberts pitched seven innings, allowing no hits and striking out seven, throwing 97 pitches. His only blemishes were hitting two batters and two walks. At the plate, Roberts went 2-for-3 with a double.

Ben Ford opened the game with a two-RBI single in the first inning. He finished the game 1-for-3. Hiroshy Wong, Sean Carroll, Ryan Morton and Ryan Lucas each added a hit.

Roberts was the 14th pitcher in the program’s history to throw a no-hitter. The last one was in 2021 (Jake Osta). His 10-0 record ties for the third most wins in school history, behind Mike Fagerson (1989), Mike Bowden (2004, 2005), and Mike Kelly (2000).

Roberts is the 14th pitcher in Waubonsie Valley baseball history to throw a no-hitter.

The Warriors have now won eight in a row and are 24-9 on the year. They’ll face top-seeded Downers Grove North on Friday afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch at Plainfield North High School.
