More Wins, More History for Girls Basketball

AURORA – Waubonsie Valley girls basketball continued to pile up wins and milestones as they defeated Metea Valley, 73-29, on Thursday night.

Hannah Laub lead the Warriors with 22 points on an historic night, as she eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her high school career. She’s the second player this week to pass 1,000 career points. Sophomore Danyella Mporokoso reached 1,000 career points against Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 23-11 lead in the first quarter, eventually leading at halftime, 45-16.

Arie Garcia scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, and Lily Newton added 13 points.

With the win, Brett Love became the second winningest coach in Waubonsie Valley girls basketball history with 102 wins.
