AURORA – Junior Leo Hobson and junior Nathan Duffield each finished third in their respective weight classes at IHSA Regionals at Marmion Academy on Saturday.
In the 132-pound division, third-seeded Duffield pinned East Aurora’s Oscar Avila in 1:26, before falling to West Aurora’s Jack Platt. Duffield defeated Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Nolan Scholl and Neuqua Valley’s Collin Foley to finish third.
In the heavyweight division, Hobson pinned East Aurora’s Brandon Monroy in 2:23, before falling to Marmion’s top-seeded Mateusz Nycz. In the third place match, Hobson pinned Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Ashton Kibbe in 5:14.
Waubonsie’s Mason Goldman (113), Rolando Luna-Ramos (150), Zander Allen (165), Lucas Pretkelis (175), Trevor Martin (190) and Jordan Hatchett (215) all won matches but did not advance to sectionals.
Duffield and Hobson advance to sectionals at Hinsdale Central High School on Friday and Saturday.
