Think Locally on Giving Tuesday

AURORA – Giving Tuesday is this week, and there are organizations that support Indian Prairie School District 204 and Waubonsie Valley High School that could use the community’s support. While some of these organizations draw funding from sponsors, donations still make up an important part of their operations.

However, this year’s pandemic has hindered a lot of not-for-profit organizations’ ability to raise funds for important community contributions and services.

“The ever-changing situation in 2020 has disrupted the station’s various revenue streams, from program sponsorships to fundraising events,” said NCTV Community Development Director Jane Wernette. “Without the ability to gather, many of our television shows, like Naperville Sports Weekly, had to halt production which has a direct impact on our sponsorship revenue.”

“Additionally, the station had to cancel one major fundraising event as a result of the stay-at-home order in the spring,” said Wernette. “A second event this fall was converted to an online event. The impact of both these actions, in response to the pandemic, had a direct impact on our bottom line.”
