AURORA – Waubonsie Valley student Brynn Drew was about to become internet famous, and she didn’t even know it. The sophomore student went through the Starbuck’s drive-thru after her wisdom teeth surgery. All caught on video, Drew then wanted to “pay it forward.” Her efforts landed her on NBC’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday.
“I went out on anesthesia,” Drews told DeGeneres in an on-stage interview. “Next morning, my sister showed me it, and I freaked out. I saw it on Instagram. I saw what was going on that you had a challenge going on, so I just think it was in the back of my brain.”
The video of Drew’s kindness was posted on Instagram, went viral, and was picked up by DeGeneres as part of her “Pay It Forward” Starbucks Challenge. The act also earned Drew $10,000 and 10,000 Starbucks Reward Stars.
Drews will return to the show on a later date as a guest in the Starbucks Starbox for DeGeneres’ birthday episode.
