PEORIA – Waubonsie Valley’s chess team finished 17th at the IHSA Tournament in Peoria this weekend. The Warriors finished 5-2 in the two-day competition.
Waubonsie defeated Moline, Sandburg, Plainfield North, Prospect and East Peoria, but fell to Whitney Young and Hinsdale Central.
Student competitors included Matthew Pikus, Owen Jakl, Griffin Snyder, Aryan Sapre, Akshath Sivachidhambaram, Avi Desai, Subbu Muthiah, Saye Karthikeyan and Rishi Mahadevan
