AURORA – The Warriors/Wildcats hockey rivalry meant a little more on Thursday night as a trip to the Carillon Cup final was on the line. The Warriors defeated Neuqua Valley 5-2 at All Seasons Ice Rink.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Sophomore Joe Pijanowski struck first at the 10:28 mark in the first period, then senior Michael McClain followed with a goal with under a minute remaining in the period.

Pijanowski scored again in the second period before the Wildcats mounted a comeback with two straight goals. However, that’s as far as Neuqua got. McClain tacked on his second goal of the night, and Houlihan added an empty netter to seal the victory.

The Warriors advance to the Carillon Cup championship on Tuesday, November 21 for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
