AURORA – The Waubonsie Valley boys golf team was looking to ride the momentum from its DVC Championship the week before at Orchard Valley Golf Course. The Warriors advanced to the IHSA Sectionals with a second-place finish with a team total of 309 strokes.
Sophomore Salil Khanduja won individual honors for the second straight year. He lead all golfers with a 2-under-70. Khanduja birdied one hole on the front nine, then finished strong with four birdies on the back nine.
Senior Kenton Esch was hot on the front nine, with birdies on three holes. He closed out the tournament tied for 4th with a 2-over-74. Senior Usman Haqqani carded a 8-over-80, and senior Neil Gupta finished with a 13-over-85.
IHSA Sectionals will be on October 4 at Village Links in Glen Ellyn.
