AURORA – Waubonsie scored four runs in the last half inning to walk off Naperville North, 10-9, in the first round of the DuPage Valley Conference Tournament on Monday night at WV Softball Field.
The Warriors were down three going into the bottom of the 7th when Sam Wiertelak singled to start off the rally. Lily Elsea doubled. Grace Riggs and Alyssa Tukker then singled. Riggs then scored the winning run after an error by North’s catcher.
Gia Cobert, Elsea and Riggs each went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Tukker went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, and Hannah Laub, Wiertelak and Lyric Taylor each added a hit.
The Warriors improved to 14-16 on the year and will travel to Metea Valley on Tuesday to take on the Mustangs in the DVC tournament semifinals.
