Three Warriors Inducted Into Athletics Hall of Fame

AURORA – The Waubonsie Valley athletic department inducted three new members into its hall of fame last weekend.

Luke Wigtil coached girls track and field from 1990 to 2000. During that time, Waubonsie outdoor track won three conference titles, and indoor track won two conference titles. Wigtil had a dual meet record of 93-35-2 and coached 145 individual conference champions and 125 state qualifiers. He also was assistant coach for girls cross country from 1990-1998.

Paul Blalock played football from 2001 to 2004. He holds several school records, including career passing attempts (612), completions in a game (26), completions in a career (319), passing yards in a game (406), passing yards in a season (2,130) and passing yards in a career (4,572). He was all-conference for three straight years (’02-’04) and was named the Naperville Sun All-City Player of the Year in 2004. Blalock was also a two-sport athlete, playing basketball at Waubonsie during that time.

Jared Brownridge played basketball from 2010 to 2013. He holds school records for 3-point field goals made in a game (8), career three-pointers (203), three-point attempts in a season (208) and three-point attempts in a career (556). He was all-conference for three straight years (’11-’13) and was co-MVP of the Upstate Eight Conference in 2003.

All three were honored during halftime of Waubonsie Valley’s football game on Friday night.
