LOCKPORT – Before yesterday’s IHSA Regional Semifinal, Waubonsie Valley boys soccer could already call their season a success, having improved upon last year’s four-win total with 10 wins in 2016. Last night’s 2-1 win over Bolingbrook just made the season better.
The number-four seeded Warriors opened the scoring in the first minute with a Stephan Spano goal. The Raiders fired back with a score of their own, midway through the first half. Then, with 20 minutes remaining in the first half, Giacomo Parrino scored what would be the winning goal, as both teams were shut out in the second half.
The Warriors advance to the IHSA Regional Final on Friday to play either host Lockport or Oswego East.
