AURORA – Due to a police presence in a neighboring area, the Aurora Police Department asked three Indian Prairie School District 204 schools to secure its buildings “as a precaution only.”
The three buildings included Waubonsie, Fischer Middle School and Gombert Elementary School.
“We have secured these buildings under the guidance of the Aurora Police Department as the schools impacted by the situation,” said a release from the district. “They [Aurora Police] have not indicated the need to secure any other buildings.”
All students were safe at all times, and there was no threat to the schools.
“This is a precaution only,” said the statement. “While our schools are being secured, there will be no exit or entrance to the buildings.”
An “all-clear” was given to schools around noon.
