WHEATON – You would think a team that has four Top 3 finishes in the last five years would have nothing to prove. The Warriors continue to succeed on in the bowling alley, but some of the names have changed. On Saturday, the Warriors left no doubt that they were a team to be reckoned with in the postseason, as Waubonsie Valley won the IHSA Regional at Fox Bowl in Wheaton.
Waubonsie led from start to finish, having won each of the six games with scores of 929, 1084, 939, 989, 1025 and 967. The Warriors finished over 300 pins better than second-place Neuqua Valley. Senior Mirica Yancey was the overall individual champion with 1,384 pins. Seniors Angelica Hernandez and Serenity Quinteros finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
It was the fourth regional championship in a row and fourth in the program’s history. The Warriors advanced to the Oak Lawn Sectional at Palos Lanes in Palos Hills on Saturday, February 11.
