AURORA – Waubonsie Valley student council will be hosting a blood drive on February 9.
“It’s just really important to give back to people who need the blood,” said Waubonsie Valley sophomore Haranah Pascual. All they [donors] have to do is choose a time to donate blood, put their name, their e-mail, we give them a packet to read, answer some questions, and then they can donate blood.”
Because blood cannot be manufactured or stockpiled, it is only available through volunteer donors.
“Getting people to donate, and running this blood drive, it’s just so cool to be able to like help the community,” said sophomore Emily Shield.
The blood drive is Thursday, February 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in room 156 at Waubonsie Valley High School. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged. For more information, visit wvhs.ipsd.org or e-mail alison_heuer@ipsd.org.
