AURORA – Addison Powell’s solo home run in the first inning helped give Waubonsie Valley the lead for good in the Warriors’ 9-6 win over West Aurora on Tuesday afternoon.
Powell ended up 2-for-4. Aislee Morgan went 1-for-2 with 4 RBI. Grace Riggs and Giavanna Pyle each went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Sam Wiertelak, Alyssa Tukker and Dezirae Kelly each added a hit.
The Warriors’ offense scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in the fourth inning en route to 9 total runs on 8 hits.
Wiertelak pitched four innings to earn the win and Molly Quinn pitched three inning, while striking out five.
