
AURORA – The City of Aurora Police Department has released a social media post with the top five intersections in Aurora with the most crashes in the month of April. The intersection of Eola Road and Ogden Avenue ranked third.
Waubonsie Valley High School is located in the northwest corner of the intersection, while Fischer Middle School is located at the southeast corner of the intersection.
The five intersections in Aurora with the most crashes include:
- Route 59 and New York Street
- Route 59 and Liberty Street
- Ogden Avenue and Eola Road
- Lake Street and Indian Trail
- Farnsworth Avenue and Indian Trail
Aurora police say the biggest contributing factor to crashes is failure to reduce speed, which accounted for 61% of crashes at those locations. Improper lane usage accounted for 22% of crashes, and distractions outside of the vehicle accounted for 17%. In total, there were 15 crashes at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Eola Road in April.
The post continued to say, “we’re constantly reviewing crash data to identify where—and why—serious collisions are happening in Aurora. By closely analyzing these trends, we’re able to proactively focus enforcement and outreach efforts where they’re needed most—ultimately helping prevent future crashes and improving safety for everyone on the road.”
The intersection is one of five in the City of Aurora where red light cameras are installed.
