AURORA – The Warriors defeated Metea Valley, 13-3, in five innings, but they really only needed one inning to do the job on Tuesday night. Waubonsie scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first en route to their IHSA Regional Semifinal win over the Mustangs.
Part of that first inning was Owen Roberts’ grand slam. He was one of 15 batters sent to the plate. On the mound, Roberts pitched four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out ten.
Sean Carroll went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and four RBI. Hiroshy Wong went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Josh Hung went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Ryan Lucas went 2-for-3, and Ryan Gustaitis went 1-for-3.
The Warriors have now won six in a row. They advance to the regional championship on Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. first pitch.
