AURORA – Ryan Morton went the distance on Tuesday afternoon as the Warriors defeated Naperville North, 6-4, to win the regular season DuPage Valley Conference title.
The game went back and forth. The Huskies scored two runs in the first inning before Waubonsie bounced back with three unanswered runs of their own. North took the lead in the fourth inning, then the Warriors scored three more runs to take the lead for good. Sean Carroll singled home Owen Roberts, then Morton singled to score Hiroshy Wong.
Morton pitched seven innings, allowing four runs, while striking out six.
Offensively, Owen Roberts went 2-for-3 with one run. Wong went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Carroll went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ryan Gustaitis, Josh Hung and Morton each had a hit.
It’s the first time that the Warriors have won conference since 2016 and the program’s 10th conference title overall. It’s the third time that the program has won conference under head coach Bryan Acevedo.
The Warriors have the day off before traveling to Naperville North to close out the series on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
