PALATINE – Junior Lily Baibak broke Waubonsie Valley’s school record for the 1600 in girls track. Baibak finished second in the event at the Distance Night in Palatine on Saturday.
Baibak’s time of 5:02.38 eclipsed the old record of 5:06.0, which was set in 1982 by Cathy Brzeczek.
Baibak is also listed in the WV record books for the third best time in the 3200 and the 30th best time in the 800.
Earlier this season, Baibak ran personal bests of 5:21.10 at Metea Valley’s Mustang Invite on April 6 and 5:19.02 at the Gus Scott Invite at Naperville North on April 12.
